“Since signing with GMA in 2018, having a hit song that people instantly associate with me has been my greatest dream,” he told Manila Standard Entertainment. “I think this is the greatest dream that I wanted to fulfill as a music artist.”
While chasing this dream – a signature hit song – he’s hitting the stage first with a solo concert titled Switch.
Happening on Jan. 31 at the Music Museum, the concert promises a unique musical experience curated by Anthony himself.
The concert deviates from the expected pop repertoire, dedicating 80 percent of the show to captivating selections from local and Broadway musicals. This artistic “switch” becomes an opportunity for him to share his newfound love for musical theater with an assembled lineup of guest stars, including Rita Daniela, Gian Magdangal, Khalil Ramos, and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo.
Anthony’s decision to embrace the world of musical theater comes on the heels of a successful stint as the young Hector in the 2023 staging of the Eraserheads-inspired musical, Huling El Bimbo.
“I want my audience to see a different side of me and share with them a world that I have been so passionate about,” he stated
During a media conference, Anthony opened up about the driving force behind his artistic journey, attributing it to his mother’s unwavering support.
“My ultimate motivation is my mom. I’ve always said I’m a mama’s boy, and all that is happening to me today is because of her love and generosity,” he shared, reflecting on the sacrifices his mother made during his early career.
In preparation for the concert, Anthony has been diligently focusing on his physical well-being, maintaining a regular gym routine to ensure optimal health. Expressing his concern for avoiding illness, he emphasized the importance of being in top form for the event.
