MPD releases alternate routes for motorists on Independence Day

The Manila Police District (MPD) announced on Saturday, June 10, the alternate routes for motorists on Independence Day, June 12.

In an advisory released by the local government of Manila on Friday, June 9, the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Parkway to South Drive will be closed to motorists from 12 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, while the northbound lane from Teodoro Manguiat (TM) Kalaw Avenue to Padre Burgos Avenue will be closed starting 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

MPD said motorists intending to utilize Roxas Boulevard should turn left to A. Soriano Avenue or straight to Bonifacio Drive left to P. Burgos to Finance Road.

Motorists traversing from the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard may turn right to United Nations Avenue while all trailer trucks and heavy vehicles should take right to Quirino Avenue.

Meanwhile, vehicles coming from General Luna inside Intramuros may turn left to the Eastbound lane of P. Burgos or Finance Road.

All vehicles traveling from Jones, McArthur, and Quezon bridges should take Taft Avenue.

Trailer trucks and heavy trucks coming from Delpan Bridge should turn around at Anda Circle to the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard to C-3.

MPD noted that the closing and reopening of roads will be based on the actual traffic situation on Monday.

It advised the public to expect heavy traffic and to take alternate routes. — Diann Ivy C. Calucin
