Church leaders file complaint vs Pura Luka Vega

Leaders of Christian churches under the umbrella group of Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) filed a complaint on Monday before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office against drag queen Pura Luka Vega in connection with her performance of The Lord’s Prayer that trended online.

PJM President Bishop Leo Alconga, Pastor Romie Suela and Pastor Mars Rodriguez filed their complaints individually, representing the membership of their respective local churches who were offended by Amadeus Fernando Pagente, also known as Pura Luka Vega.

Vega was accused of violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code as well as Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

“The drag performance of Pagente is not only terribly blasphemous, offensive, disrespectful, insulting, unacceptable, and outrageous to the Christian religion and belief, it also causes a devalued and negative image of the Lord Jesus Christ, which Christians hold in the highest veneration,” the complainants said.
