1 dead after shooting outside Market Mall in northwest Calgary

Calgary police say they are investigating a fatal shooting outside Market Mall in northwest Calgary Saturday.

"Our Homicide Unit is currently on scene investigating the death of a man which occurred earlier today outside of a mall in the northwest," the police said in a release.

According to the statement, police officials arrived at the scene after receiving "reports of shots fired outside of the west entrance of Market Mall" at approximately 2:21 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

First responders took "a man in medical distress" to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The statement added that an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. No suspects are in custody at the moment.

The police are currently on the lookout for a "white 2015 – 2016 model Volvo XC60" that was believed to be in the area at the time of the incident.

He said the mall has since re-opened. There was still an area of the mall's parking lot taped off with dozens of cars surrounded by police tape.
