Japanese team invites Ramirez to train in Japan

LOUIE Ramirez, the reigning National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Philippines men’s volleyball Most Valuable Player, has been invited to train in Japan.

This was confirmed by the Perpetual Help Altas spiker on Thursday, August 3, who added that he will be in Japan for two to three weeks to increase his knowledge and skills in the game of volleyball.

Ramirez was invited by Oita Miyoshi Wessie Adler team owner Dr. Atsushi Miyoshi to train and practice with the Oita City-based team.

“I am happy because I will learn more in volleyball and I am proud because there are many strong players here in the Philippines, but I was the one who was invited to train there,” said Ramirez, the opposite spiker of defending NCAA champion Altas.

“I am also very excited that I will be able to go to Japan.”

The 6-foot-3 player from Malimpin, Dasol, Pangasinan will be accompanied in Japan by Perpetual Help assistant coach Macky Cariño.

Dr. Moyoshi, meanwhile, said he wanted to establish a good relationship with the Las Piñas-based school and help players like Ramirez improve their game.

Perpetual Help men’s volleyball head coach Sinfronio “Sammy” Acaylar, meanwhile, said that the Oita Miyoshi team will provide for the airfare, transportation in Japan, accommodation and meals of Ramirez and Cariño with the help of the Tamayo family, especially chairman Tony Tamayo, president Dr. Anthony Tamayo and vice president for sports Anton Tamayo.

“I allowed Louie to train abroad so that he can learn more and improve as a volleyball player,” Acaylar said. “And whatever learning he gets in Japan, he can bring here with the team.”
