A man has died after being stabbed in Toronto’s east end Saturday afternoon, Toronto police say.

Police say they were called to the area of Woodbine Avenue and O’Connor Drive around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, where they found the man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the man to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A male suspect was taken into custody without incident, Insp. Suzanne Redman told reporters at the scene.

“There is no threat to public safety at this point,” she said.

The stabbing was not random but Redman said she could not share details about the relationship between the suspect and victim.

The attack appears to have happened at Trillium Apartments on Woodbine Avenue, but police could not say wether the stabbing happened inside or outside the building.

Paramedics originally told CBC Toronto the victim was in his 40s. Redman later said he was between 30 and 40 years old.
