Atin Ito First Filipino Community Newspaper in Ontario
Members of the Markham Federation of Filipino Canadians were honoured by the Canadian
government by celebrating the volunteers who have spent years in the service of this beloved
organization. The Markham awards celebration was held at Crystal Fountain on October 3,
2023 and of the 3,400 volunteers awarded, 15 were awarded to the MFFC.
The honourable mentions from the Seniors group are Virginia Gesmundo, Emelie Exconde,
Chit Nebrija, Honor Rodrigues, Tony del Rio, Abe Tomas and from the Youth Performing
Arts Group are Maclaren Alphonso, Marianita Cusi, Karen Tan, Gloria Dalmacio, Francis
delas Alas, Marconi Musca, Jacob Mansueto, Michelle Ombao and Andre Anne Villar.
To quote DeAnn Hollis, “The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth
of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” The members of the MFFC
continue to make an impact on the lives of many people in our community, both through
music and various activities.
