Valdez prepares for season without ace setter Jia Morado-De Guzman

Creamline Cool Smashers captain Alyssa Valdez said her team is adjusting without longtime teammate Jia Morado-De Guzman, who is now playing in Japan.

In a press briefing of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Second All-Filipino Conference on Wednesday, Valdez said while she and her team will miss Morado’s leadership, Creamline is excited for the upcoming conference.

“With the new teams and the veteran PVL teams, we’re very much excited for this conference to see what we can improve as a team,” she said.

“Like what our coach [Sherwin Meneses] said, we’re taking it one step at a time, we’re preparing each game and it’s going to be harder and we have bigger stairs to climb, and hopefully we could give them a good fight this conference,” she added.

Valdez mentioned that the team is also working with veteran Kyle Negrito in their regular practices, especially that Morado is now playing for the Denso Airybees of the Japanese V.League 1.

The PVL’s All-Filipino Conference Second All-Filipino Conference will take place on October 15, 2023, with Creamline set to defend its 2023 First All-Filipino Conference championship.
