‘No reason to bash maritime patrols’

Joint maritime patrols by Filipino and American forces should not be taken against their countries, as the US Indo-Pacific Command and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), began three-day maritime and aerial patrols in local waters Tuesday.

“I think there is no reason for any other party to take this against us or against the US because we are not breaking any laws here. If there is a party that will take action that will result in trouble, then it is their problem and it is them to be blamed,” AFP spokesman Col. Medel said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

Eugene Cabusao, spokesperson for the AFP Northern Luzon command, earlier said the drill will start off in Mavulis island in Batanes and end in the West Philippine Sea. — Vince Lopez
