Security guard miraculously survives after jumping off QC flyover

A security guard sustained injuries but miraculously survived after he jumped off the railing of Meralco-Ortigas Avenue flyover in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 11.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the 26-year-old man is now in stable condition and is currently undergoing treatment at Pasig General Hospital.

It added that the man also underwent medical evaluation at the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City.

According to the QCPD report, the man suddenly jumped from the railing of Meralco-Ortigas Avenue flyover and landed on Ortigas flyover at around 5:22 p.m. A video of the incident went viral on social media.

Police said that the gap between the flyovers is about 10-13 meters.

As he fell down, the victim hit a motorcycle being driven by Joseph Antonio, 22, damaging the vehicle. The motorcycle driver and his passenger also fell to the ground, police said.

The security guard sustained injuries on different parts of the body. He was rushed to Victor Potenciano Medical Center  by members of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and was later transferred to Mandaluyong City Medical Center for medical treatment.

Police said the victim was later brought to the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City for mental evaluation.

The driver of the motorcycle decided not to file a complaint against the victim regarding the damages his vehicle sustained. — Aaron Homer Dioquino
