Teen solo artist Esay Belanio won the Pop Indie Artist of the Year award at the recently concluded 8th Philippine Pop Awards. She was recognized for her original composition, “But Now You’re Gone.”
“Her distinctive style, in addition to the song, contributed to her winning the award,” the jury said in a statement.
Receiving the award the 18-year-old singer expressed her gratitude to KDR Music House and Wish 107.5 for providing opportunities and believing in her talents.
In addition to Esay’s achievements, Wish 107.5 earned Radio Station of the Year award with The Roadshow winning Radio Entertainment Program of the Year. Meanwhile, UNTV News and Rescue’s Serbisyo ng Bayanihan was named TV News Informative Program of the Year.
The Philippine Pop Awards, with its mission to promote new and fast-rising artists to the broader music-loving community, continues to be a platform that celebrates the diverse talents shaping the future of the music industry.
As Dr. Mon Del Rosario, the jury head of the 8th PPOP Awards, noted, the awards aim to bring talented artists out of the shadows and into the limelight, raising awareness among music enthusiasts about these incredible groups of musicians who are yet to be discovered.
