Cold temperatures persist in North Luzon —PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)  has recorded the 10 areas with lowest temperatures in the country among which areas in the northern Luzon were included.

In PAGASA’s latest live broadcast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said there is a “weakening” effect of the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan”—a weather system that brings surge of cold winds—which only prevails in northern Luzon areas for the next 24 hours.

PAGASA said areas in northern Luzon with lowest temperatures include Baguio City (14.8°C); Basco, Batanes (21.0°C); Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (21.5°C); and Aparri, Cagayan (22.6°C).

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Metro Manila was also among the 10 areas with coldest temperatures, as  Science Garden, Quezon City experiences a temperature of 22.5°C.

Other areas in the country with lowest temperatures were Casiguran, Aurora (21.8°C); Coron, Palawan (21.8°C); Dagupan City, Pangasinan (22.2°C); San Jose,  Occidental Mindoro (23.3°C); and Davao City, Davao del Sur (23.5°C). — Lizst Torres Abello
