MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially appointed and sworn in businessman Eduardo Aliño as the new administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), according to an announcement from the Presidential Communications Office on Friday.

As part of a reorganization, Jonathan Tan, the previous SBMA administrator, now assumes the role of Undersecretary at the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on the same day.

The SBMA is responsible for managing the development of the Subic Special Economic and Freeport Zone, which stands as the premier business and investment hub in the region.

Eduardo Aliño chairs the Subic Bay Yacht Club and holds leadership positions at the S.T.A.R. Group of Companies. His leadership extends to other key roles, including the presidency and chairmanship at Subic Bay Freeport Grain Terminal Services Inc. and Mega Equipment International Corp.

Jonathan Tan, the outgoing SBMA administrator, previously served as the mayor of Pandacan, Antique. He is a businessman with ownership of JDT Construction and Supply, and he holds the position of president at JDT Trading. — Kristine Daguno-Bersamina
