Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday said she has not yet discussed her plans for the 2025 or 2028 elections with President Marcos.
Duterte made this statement in an ABS-CBN TV interview in response to Mr. Marcos’ assumption, in a television interview Tuesday, that she is “testing the waters” regarding her political plans.
The Vice President earlier declared in an event in her hometown Davao City that she intends to run for office again, but did not specify what position she would run for.
She mentioned that her brothers, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte and Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, will not be running in the 2025 midterm elections.
When asked if this declaration had anything to do with her issues with House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Duterte stated that she could not speculate about what the Speaker was thinking, adding that their friendship “is not deep enough” for her to do so. — Joel E. Zurbano
