Marcos: No room for dissonance in ‘Bagong Pilipinas’

President Marcos asked Filipinos to put the country above their personal interests as he said that the promise of a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) would only be possible if everyone would work together instead of pulling each other down.

Marcos said this a week after the administration launched “Bagong Pilipinas” through a kick-off rally in Manila.

In his latest vlog, the President asked the public to “change” since this is the key to achieving a new Philippines.

“Magbago na tayo (Let us change),” he said in his vlog uploaded to his YouTube channel on Sunday morning, Feb. 4.

“Walang Bagong Pilipinas kung walang Bagong Pilipino (There won’t be a New Philippines if there won’t be New Filipinos),” he added.

According to Marcos, there is no room for mudslinging in the “Bagong Pilipinas.”

“Sa isang ‘Bagong Pilipinas,’ walang puwang ang mga paninira at paghahatakan pababa (In a New Philippines, there is no room for mudslinging and pulling each other down),” he said.

“Unahin natin ang ating bayan (Let’s put the country first),” he added.

Last week, President Marcos addressed the negativity brought about by people “poisoned by toxic politics,” saying “Bagong Pilipinas” is not a new partisan coalition but a set of ideals that serve the people.

“Bagong Pilipinas is not a new partisan coalition in disguise. It is a set of ideals that all us Filipinos, regardless of political creed or religion or wealth, can coalesce around,” he said.

“Bagong Pilipinas transcends this administration. To those whose overheated imagination has been poisoned by toxic politics, Bagong Pilipinas is no Trojan Horse. It conceals no agenda,” he added.

The “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign is the Marcos administration’s brand of governance and leadership, “characterized by a principled, accountable, and dependable government reinforced by unified institutions of society.”

It encourages Filipinos to set aside differences and unite to build a nation that shapes a more promising future for its citizens. — Argyll Cyrus Geducos
