Welcome to Baguio City float tops Panagbenga fluvial parade

BAGUIO CITY – Float No. 8 with the theme Welcome to Baguio City topped the Panagbenga Festival Fluvial Parade  2024 at Burnham Park Lake here on February 18.

It won the grand prize of P20,000.

Second place and pocketing P15,000 was Float No. 4 with the theme Hagdan-Hagdang Palayan ng Banaue representing the Banaue Rice Terraces in Banaue, Ifugao, a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines.

Third and bagging P10,000 was Float No. 7 with the theme Canao Thanksgiving that shows the Igorot performing a ritual offering black native pigs for their god, Kabunyan.

The top float’s design in the center shows that people’s arms here are open for every tourist and visitor and they are signs of gratitude and good luck once they return home.

Eight floats – four non-competing – participated in the fluvial parade with the theme Celebrating Traditions, Embracing Innovation and attended by Mayor Benjamin Magalong here, Department of Tourism-Cordillera Director Jovi Ganongan, and city officials.

Non-competing floats were La Trinidad Strawberries and Floral, Baguio City Police Office, Swan Boat, and Siomai House.
