The Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) in France, one of the world’s prestigious award-giving bodies, paid tribute to Filipino actress Jaclyn Jose, who passed away on March 2.

“Upon learning of the passing of Filipino actress Jaclyn Jose, the Cannes Festival remembers her beaming with emotion as she received the 2016 Acting Award for Ma’ Rosa by Brillante Mendoza,” read the post on Facebook on March 5.

The message added: “Like many of her other roles, she illuminated this very beautiful portrait of a woman, embodied her with grace and humanity.”

Jaclyn, 60, is the first Filipino actress to win Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for the movie. She died from a heart attack. — Robert Requintina
