Foreign rocket debris found in sea of Cagayan

SANCHEZ MIRA, Cagayan – Debris from a suspected foreign rocket was found in the sea of this town on Saturday, March 2.

Philippine Coast Guard District Northeastern Luzon spokesperson Coast Guard Ensign Lamie Manglugay said residents found the debris floating about 50 meters from the beach.

Residents reported this to authorities who verified and measured the wreckage to be to about six meters. Investigation added that the debris had fiber-plated material.

THE province of Cagayan with the town of Sanchez Mira highlighted.

Manglugay encouraged the people, especially fishermen and residents who live near coastal areas, to report to authorities if they see any part of the fallen rocket for their safety.

He said that it is possible that the debris is part of the rocket launched by China in February.

The Philippine Space Agency advised the public to inform authorities if suspected debris from the Chinese rocket is sighted.

PhilSA warned the people against retrieving or getting in  close contact with these debris  that may contain remnants of toxic substances such as rocket fuel. — Liezle Basa Iñigo
