Police say all parents of children involved have already been notified.
One child was seriously injured when a school bus carrying approximately 40 children rolled over south of Woodstock, Tuesday morning, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said.
A child was pinned beneath the bus and has since been airlifted to a London hospital, police said in an update provided from the scene of the crash. Several other students were taken to Woodstock hospital to be treated with unknown injuries.
The collision happened at 8:35 a.m. near the intersection of Cuthbert Road and Dodge Line in the township of South-West Oxford. A yellow school bus could be seen lying on its side on a rural road.
“All of the students’ parents have been notified. I just want to reassure everybody that everybody that was on that bus, all the parents have been notified,” said OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk.
“I also want to take this opportunity to thank the good samaritan who came to the aid of the officers on the bus this morning. We just can’t thank you enough for everything you did this morning to evacuate those children,” he added.
The location is Cuthbert Road and Dodge Line in South-West Oxford. Please avoid the area. Updates will be provided regarding injuries as soon as we have them. @OPP_WR
The full extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, Sanchuk said, adding that the driver of the bus suffered minor injuries.
