Meralco assures uninterrupted service during Holy Week

Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has assured its 7.8 million customers a continuous, reliable, and stable electricity service throughout the upcoming Holy Week break.

Despite the closure of Meralco Business Centers from March 28 to 30 for the Easter Triduum observance, the power distributor said its personnel will be on standby 24/7 to address any customer concerns regarding electricity service.

All Meralco Business Centers are scheduled to resume operations on April 1.

“We are one with the nation in observing a solemn and safe Holy Week. As a 24-hour service company, we assure our customers that our crews are on standby to attend to concerns and unexpected power interruptions,” Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.

Coinciding with the start of the dry season, Meralco is also reminding the public to practice electrical safety and energy efficiency to ensure a safe and worry-free break.

Precautionary measures include unplugging unused appliances, avoiding overloading power outlets with multiple devices, and refraining from running electrical cords under rugs or carpets.

Furthermore, Meralco is advising customers to keep wires and cords organized and stored securely, as well as to keep electrical equipment away from water sources to reduce the risk of electrical hazards.

To empower customers in managing their electricity usage effectively, Meralco offers the Appliance Calculator feature within the Meralco Mobile App, providing information on the power consumption of gadgets and appliances. — Chino S. Leyco
