President Ferdinand Marcos named Hans Leo Cacdac as head of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) after serving as the agency’s officer-in-charge and undersecretary.
In a letter signed by the President on Thursday, April 25, Cacdac was appointed as DMW’s chief after his designation as officer-in-charge of the agency following the death of former secretary Susan Ople in August of last year.
Cacdac brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Before his ad interim appointment in the Cabinet, he held key positions in various government agencies and the private sector.
He was Executive Director V of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Executive Director V of the Philippine Employment Administration (POEA), and Undersecretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Additionally, Cacdac served as Deputy Executive Director V of the POEA, Executive Director IV of the National Conciliation Mediation Board-DOLE, and Director IV of the Bureau of Labor Relations-DOLE. Before his government service, he worked as an Associate Lawyer and Urban Poor Unit Coordinator at the Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligal (SALIGAN) in the private sector. — Charles Dantes
