The lasting effect of the Jonas Brothers

It may have been two months since Joe, Nick and Kevin — collectively known as the Jonas Brothers — staged their comeback concert in Manila, but fans are still looking back to that one magical night.

The group performed five albums in one night at the MOA Arena on February 22, including songs “Sucker,” “Leave Before You Love Me,” “Only Human,” and “Burnin’ Up,” as well as their iconic performance in the American musical film Camp Rock.

The trio commenced the show with “Wings (Overture)” and “What A Man Gotta Do,” showcasing their powerful vocals and stage presence. Right after, they introduced the first highlight album for the night, Jonas Brothers, released in 2007, amplifying the hype with “SOS,” “Hold On,” “Goodnight & Goodbye,” and “That’s Just The Way We Roll.”

The superstars expressed their excitement, given that the crowd was already enthralled when the evening just started. Moreover, they delivered “Still In Love With You,” exclusively played only once or twice in the past. Right after, they played upbeat tracks, namely “Australia,” “Hollywood,” “Just Friends,” and “Games.”

Nick further expressed the delightful experience since coming to the Philippines. Not even halfway through the show, he added, “We have to come back sooner!” Gratefully, he disclosed that it surprised them to hear their music played on a piano in the hotel lobby.

The group immediately proceeded with the remaining track from their debut album, “When You Look Me In The Eyes,” which they mentioned as one of their most popular tracks, especially in Manila. Naturally, the lovely melody and lyrics had the audience swooning.

To elevate the energy back up, the Jonas Brothers rendition of Busted’s “Year 3000” also made it on the set list, bringing each person on their feet. Right after, they played the hit song “Summer Baby” and crowd favorite “Vacation Eyes,” with the siblings taking turns captivating the audience with their unique charms.

Launching a momentous segment for the evening, attendees cannot help but sing their hearts out to their childhood anthems “Gotta Find You,” “Introducing Me,” and “Play My Music” from one of the Jonas Brothers’ most notable projects, Camp Rock.

Following this, they introduced their second album for the concert, “A Little Bit Longer,” released in 2008, which included the tunes “BB Good,” “Shelf,” “Got Me Going Crazy,” “Video Girl,” “Rock My World,” “One Man Show,” “Pushin’ Me Away,” and “Tonight.”

Notably, hit tracks “Lovebug” and “Burnin’ Up” electrified the arena, effortlessly urging the crowd to sing every word. Furthermore, whenever the trio approaches the edge of the stage, fans instantly become thrilled to see them up close.

Setting in motion another segment for the night, the Jonas Brothers presented their album launched in 2023, entitled The Album. They performed “Waffle House,” “Montana Sky,” and “Fly With Me,” soothing the audience with their impressive harmonies.

“Lines, Vines and Trying Times,” released in 2009, was the fourth album for the concert, with “Hey Baby,” “Poison Ivy,” and “Much Better.” The exceptional performance of each member, with the rest of the band members, stunned the fans. Moreover, they mentioned how ecstatic they were with the crowd, adding that it was an incredible first stop of the international tour.

Likewise, a fierce number of “World War III” demonstrated their edgy side that enlivened the fans. Right after, they continued interacting with the fans up close and sang “Don’t Speak,” “What Did I Do To Your Heart,” and “Paranoid,” where Joe even took photos around the stage using a fan’s disposable film camera.

Afterward, Nick had the chance to perform his solo track, “Jealous,” highlighting his superb vocal prowess and ardent delivery. Subsequently, Joe performed his hit DNCE track “Cake By The Ocean” with exceptional energy, enjoying choreography with their brilliant bassist.

The band dialed it down a notch with “Walls,” beginning with mellow acoustic sounds that intensified to livelier energy, further showcasing their breathtaking falsettos.

Ultimately, their fifth and last album for the evening is “Happiness Begins,” released in 2019. Establishing the atmosphere in the arena, their band members flaunted their phenomenal harmonization, immediately followed by their sentimental tracks “Comeback” and “Rollercoaster.” As the show progressed, naturally, “Strangers,” “Used To Be,” “Cool,” and “I Believe” had the audience swaying and bopping along throughout the performance.

The arena was already brimming with immense enthusiasm as Nick screamed, “Manila, we love you,” and started with their smash track, “Only Human.” Their most streamed song, “Sucker,” followed immediately after. Eventually, “Leave Before You Love Me” served as the farewell track for the delightful and remarkable two-hour show with 50 songs.
