Iloilo police anti-drug unit nets P1-M shabu

ILOILO CITY – More than P1-milion worth of suspected shabu was seized by the anti-drug unit of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) in a buy-bust operation in Leganes town, Iloilo province.

Seized from the suspect Boyet was more or less 150 grams of shabu when he was caught Thursday night, May 9, in Barangay Cagamutan Sur.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Leganes Municipal Police Station-Station Drug Enforcement Team successfully conducted  the operation.

The arrest of the 37-year-old suspect from Dumangas town – a high-value drug suspect in Iloilo – was lauded by the IPPO hierarchy.

“The arrest of the suspect and confiscation of a significant volume of illegal drugs serve as a major blow to the illegal drug trade in the province and the region as a whole,” said Police Col. Bayani Razalan, IPPO officer-in-charge.

“This buy-bust operation, along with other recent successful drug operations, underscores the unwavering commitment of your Ilonggo cops to work tirelessly to rid our community of illicit substances and criminal activities,” added Razalan in a statement on Friday, May 10. — Tara Yap
