SMB sinks ROS, now one win away from PH Cup Finals

MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer played steady down the stretch as it turned back a stubborn Rain or Shine side, 117-107 to move within a win from sweeping their PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinal series on Wednesday at the Dasmarinas Arena in Cavite.

Terrence Romeo dropped all 13 of his points in the final period in a fiery offensive display to spark the Beermen past the Elasto Painters en route to a commanding 3-0 series bulge.

The Elasto Painters managed to succeed in containing Beermen star center June Mar Fajardo, who only had 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the field.

But San Miguel’s armada of scorers took the cudgels from there.

Marcio Lassiter led the Beermen with 21 points, highlighted by five triples, while Don Trollano tormented his former team with 20, along with 11 rebounds.

Chris Ross and Moala Tautuaa were the other SMB players in double figures after scoring 12 and 10, respectively.

San Miguel dominated the boards, 63-51 and made a massive killing at second chance points, 21-6.

Beau Belga fought valiantly for ROS, and went on to lead his team with 19 points.

Adrian Nocum, Leonard Santillan and rookie big man Keith Datu each added 14 for the Elasto Painters, who will try to extend the series with a win this Friday.
