PH Navy to get more ships, aircraft

The Philippine Navy will get more modern ships and aircrafts as part of its modernization program, Rear Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta said.

“There are many other new modern ships of the Philippine Navy that will be arriving soon, not only ships but also aircraft,” Ezpeleta said on Monday in a public briefing.

The chief of the naval staff made the announcement days after two Israeli-made fast attack interdiction craft (FAIC) platforms were commissioned into service. The Navy now has four such ships.

The two newly acquired Acero-class patrol gunboats constructed by Israel Shipyard Ltd — BRP Gener Tinangag (PG-903) and BRP Domingo Deluana (PG-905) — were christened last May 8 at the Naval Shipbuilding Facility Wharf at Fort San Felipe, Cavite City.

The acquisition of these ships is among the projects approved by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
