The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced this on Monday evening, Oct. 9.

In a Facebook post, the PCO said President Marcos had ordered an investigation on the matter.

“The President does not tolerate any misconduct in his administration and has instructed the immediate investigation of this matter,” it said.

“He strongly condemns dishonesty and duplicity in public service,” it added.

Marcos’ order to suspend Guadiz came after his former executive assistant, Jeff Gallos Tumbado, accused Guadiz of corruption in a press conference held by transport group Manibela on Monday.

Tumbado claimed that one has to shell out up to P5 million for “favors” with the LTFRB, including special permits like route modifications.

He alleged that the corruption in LTFRB, which supposedly started in March this year, goes up to Malacañang.

The LTFRB has yet to directly respond to Tumbado’s claims but said the agency remains an ally against corruption.

President Marcos appointed Guadiz as the LTFRB chairman on Dec. 9, 2022. He previously served as the chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) before he became an assistant secretary at the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
