Marcos shared his “simple” New Year’s Resolution in a YouTube vlog uploaded to his channel on Saturday evening, Jan. 6.

According to the President, he wanted to spend more time with his family in 2024 since he rarely sees them anymore.

“I’d like to spend more time with my family. Hindi ko na sila halos nakikita dahil, siyempre, busy tayo, busy rin sila (I don’t see them often anymore because, of course, I’m busy and so are they),” he said.

The President said spending time with his family gives him peace of mind.

“Napakalaking kaginhawaan at parang lumalamig ang ulo mo, siyempre, at parang magiging maliwanag ang pag-iisip mo pagka may panahon ka kasama ng pamilya mo, tsaka lahat ng mga kaibigan mo pati mahal sa buhay (It’s a huge comfort, you’re getting calmer, and your mind’s getting clearer if you have time with your family, friends, and loved ones),” Marcos said.

“Siyempre limitado ‘yan, pero (Of course, that’s limited, but) I would like to spend more time with my family,” he added.

Last year, President Marcos said he ensures he spends time with his family, even if it is only on Sundays, as his Saturdays are for appointments.

During Sundays, which he described as “family time,” they hear Mass in Malacañan and have a small lunch. This helps him take his mind off things.

Health

President Marcos said he would continue his routine to stay in shape, especially after catching Covid-19 for the third time in 2023.

“Hindi ko babaguhin ang aking mga dati pang ginagawa na binabantayan ko ang pagkain ko, binabantayan ko ang kalusugan ko (I won’t change my routine where I watch what I eat and take care of my health),” he said.

“Lagi tayong nag-e-exercise para mabawas-bawasan ang stress, laging matibay ang katawan kahit ma-Covid uli (We will exercise regularly to relieve stress, to ensure a healthy body even if we catch Covid-19 again),” he added.

Last year, Marcos said he always starts his day by waking up around 6:30 a.m. and checking his phone to see if any issues needed his attention.

He added that he usually skips breakfast, thinking this helps strengthen his body.

“Kadalasan, ako’y nagfa-fast. Hindi ako kumakain ng almusal. Pagkatapos ko kumain ng gabi, hindi na ako kumakain hanggang lunch time na (Usually, I fast. I don’t eat breakfast. After I had dinner, I don’t eat until lunch time, that’s like my fast),” he said.

“Nasanay na rin ako sa ganyan routine kaya ang aking palagay nakakatulong ‘yan sa pagpatibay ng katawan (I got used to that, so that’s why I think it helps strengthen my body),” he added.

In addition to watching what he eats— he usually has fish and vegetables— the President also says he makes time to work out as it is the best “stress reliever” for him.
